KJK recently hosted an Ice Cream Social and Raffle to benefit the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, a nonprofit firm of 40 attorneys that has provided high quality legal representation to low income and vulnerable individuals for 110 years.
KJK attorneys are part of Legal Aid’s Partners in Justice program, which brings together local law firms to generate interest in and financial support for Legal Aid. KJK attorneys also volunteer at Legal Aid’s Brief Advice and Referral Clinics, which provide free legal advice at locations in libraries, schools, and other neighborhood centers across the city. KJK’s sponsorship of Legal Aid includes financial support for the annual Jam for Justice summer benefit concert at the House of Blues and the Annual Luncheon and Report to the Community in the fall.
The Ice Cream Social and Raffle was a big success, raising nearly $400 for Legal Aid and markedly increasing the number of individual donors at the firm from last year. We expect to build on this success in the coming years. Melanie Shakerian and Ellen Brown from Legal Aid attended the event to provide an update on the organization’s recent work and to thank the firm for its past support.
The firm would like to thanks its generous sponsors who helped make the Ice Cream Social possible, especially Chill Pop Shop, a local maker of handmade ice pops that uses locally sourced organic ingredients, for donating treats for everyone in attendance. The raffle prizes awarded included gift cards to Aladdin’s, Dino Palmieri Salon and Spa, and Cleveland Indians tickets.
The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland has been a pillar of Northeast Ohio’s legal community for more than 100 years, and KJK looks forward to strengthening its relationship with this vital and effective organization in the future.
