OVERVIEW & EXPERIENCE

Emily is an associate in KJK’s Cleveland office, where she works within the firm’s Labor & Employment group. She counsels employers on a full range of matters, including workplace terminations, reductions in force, union negotiations, non-compete agreements, employee handbooks, offer letters, and litigation involving FLSA, employment discrimination, wrongful discharge, and non-compete claims. Her focus is centered on providing clients practical solutions to mitigate business risk and providing valuable insight both from a legal and a business perspective.

After spending a number of years as a paralegal at an AmLaw 100 firm in Chicago prior to attending law school, Emily returned to Cleveland after law school and practiced at mid-size regional firms prior to joining KJK. Emily resides in Chagrin Falls with her husband, three sons, and two dogs.

  • Provided advice to numerous companies on such issues as workforce reduction, executive severance agreements and non-compete arrangements
  • Serve as outside employment counsel to various startup ventures
  • Obtained favorable determinations from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in response to charges of discrimination filed against our client by various employees
  • Negotiated many employment and severance agreements for executive and professional clients
  • Advised executive clients in the negotiation of terms in offer letters
