OVERVIEW & EXPERIENCE
James Scherer is an associate attorney in KJK’s Real Estate and Corporate practice groups, with a particular emphasis on commercial sales, acquisitions, and leasing. Jim brings a meticulous and client-centered approach to navigating complex real estate transactions, ensuring successful outcomes for landlords, tenants, developers, and property owners.
A proud graduate of Cleveland State University College of Law, Jim earned a Juris Doctor in 2021 and served as an Articles Editor for the Cleveland State Law Review from 2020-2021. Jim also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Cleveland State University, enhancing his ability to understand and empathize with unique client needs and provide tailored legal solutions.
Jim has played an integral role in transformative real estate projects across Cleveland, including the acquisition and historic redevelopment of properties in the Superior Arts District and Ohio City. He has extensive experience handling intricate transactions such as 1031 exchanges, equity-transfer purchases, and the acquisition, leasing, and restructuring of retail shopping centers.
Outside the office, Jim is passionate about exploring America’s urban and natural landscapes by rail, and has completed all but one long-distance Amtrak route in the United States.
